Miami has risen as an international cultural destination over the past 15 years, and Downtown is home to many of the City’s top arts venues. In fact, Miami’s most popular museums and performance spaces are located just steps away from Caoba, Downtown’s newest luxury apartment building at the heart of Miami Worldcenter.
A few blocks from Caoba, you’ll find the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Perez Art Museum Miami, and Philip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science celebrating Art Days 2018. A short Metromover ride will take you to HistoryMiami and the Olympia Theater on Flagler Street.
While Miami’s arts calendar is jam packed throughout the year, Downtown Arts Days, taking place September 7-9, is the one weekend when the arts community comes together to activate public spaces in Downtown with exciting projects, events, performances, and interactive experiences.
Here are a few of our favorites taking place in Caoba’s backyard this year:
Kick-Off Celebration, Wednesday September 5th
Downtown Art Days 2018 weekend kick-offs at the Southeast Financial Center from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Enjoy live music and previews of the many activations taking place during the weekend while munching on appetizers and sipping on drinks.
Friday, September 7th
Brazilian Bossa Nova at the Olympia Theater – 174 E Flagler St
Change it up for lunch or even Happy Hour! The Centro Cultural Brasil-USA da Florida invites you to come and enjoy the classic sounds of Bossa Nova with the beloved Brazilian duo Rose Max & Ramatis Moraes starting at 12 PM for lunch and 6 PM for Happy Hour at the Olympia Theater.
Saturday, September 8th
Dancepalooza at the Pérez Art Museum Miami – 1103 Biscayne Blvd
PAMM’s Downtown Art Days, Dancepalooza fuses visual art and dance together! Swing by for a dance party as local dancers lead pop-up performances that respond to the museum’s artwork. Not much of a dancer? Track your movement through color during their immersive artmaking workshop starting at 1 PM.
Sunday, September 9th
Building the Baywalk at Museum Park – 1075 Biscayne Blvd
Construction workers needed! It is time to build the Baywalk with us. Using giant Everblocks, create the Baywalk you’d like to see… Some Benches? An Art Piece? A Vendor Stand? A Playground? It’s all up to you to build the prototypes and tell the City what you want to see in your neighborhood! The construction of your wildest dreams begins at 1 PM.
